Benidorm 24 Day 18

In 2017 I cycled up the tourmalet. I can still picture it now. Today, has just joined that with such a memorable day of cycling down the Vía Verde de la Val de Zafán.

And old railway line, it has been converted for cyclists and walkers, creating a more gradual climb or decline, depending on which way you are going, from the moutains, down to the sea.

The irony is, there’s not really a lot I can say about it. Words would not do it justice and the video probably dilutes the grandiose and imposing nature I cycled though today.

So, I’m not going to bother.

Just over 100k today, dropping from 605m above sea level to 5m. Some of the tunnels were a little hairy, with no lighting and rough path beneath, but a simply, stunning ride.

I thought it wouldn’t get any better but I also managed to get a bumper stesk for €15.

My final stop at Amposta was also nice, finishing by the Rive Ebra (from two days ago) with a beer for €2.

If Carling made best cycling days, today would be up there, albeit with an Estrella instead.
