Ride Update

So, as I write this, I’ve only managed one ride in the past month following a three-week cold. And Christmas is two days away. The good news is (although it didn’t feel like it at the time) that I had to cancel a few nights out, so my booze consumption may well have remained in the government guidelines for the first time in thirty years.

I am just devising my run-in plan for the first three months of 2024. With 118 days to go, it’s coming along fast, so I have started hammering the gym and have put together a training plan (of sorts) for the new year.

My ride the other days was not as bad as I thought it might be so I am carrying across the regular cycles I’ve been doing this year. January will see this go to 2-3 times a week, building distances up to 30 miles or so, with the odd 50-miler thrown in for good measure.

I also want to lose between 7 and 15 kilos, so Jan, Feb and March, are going to be a right laugh!

Meanwhile, the fundraising and profile building is going well. Donations are already coming in, which I am very surprised about, but I did start this in January to build up. As well as my corporate sponsors and businesses sponsoring me, I have also had some very generous personal donations, and we have just hit the £3,000 mark, so thank you to everyone who has donated so far. I am sure The Pink Place will be putting this money straight to use to help people in Basingstoke and North Hampshire going through a tough time with cancer.

So, have a wonderful Christmas, one and all. Here’s to a massive 2024!
